…by the famous artist Abraham Mignon
A pet squirrel and gold finch appear to have this lush arrangement of fruit all to themselves in this painting by the famous artist Abraham Mignon (1640-1679). One of the Dutch Golden Age painters, Mignon often included white or bright central objects on an otherwise dark painting. While not his more common white roses, white grapes and several peaches offer the light in this painting. It features overflowing baskets full of fruit which includes, read and white grapes, squash, peaches, tomatoes and a variety of other delights. The squirrel has found itself a nut to munch on.
