…by the famous artist Edouard Manet
Claude Monet urged his artist friends to escape their studios and paint outside among the landscape in the plain air in the French Impressionist style. Edouard Manet (1832-1883), while visiting his friend Monet, honored both the artist and his philosophy in this wonderful landscape painting and portrait. In it, we see the artist at work, sitting in his boat in order to capture the changes of light across both the water and the sky. A lady accompanies the artist and appears to be posing for the artist.
