The St. Matthew’s Church altarpiece is perhaps the most ambitious of all of the works painted by the Danish artist Henrik Olrik (1830-1890). The altarpiece depicts Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount. This central section of the work shows Jesus Christ surrounded by his disciples and other Christians as he delivers his famous address.
