Painted in 1886 by the famous Danish landscape painter Janus Andreas Bartholin La Cour, Deserted Boat on a Beach is somewhat self-explanatory. With the only real color coming from the blue sky peaking out among heavy cloud cover, the beach looks cold and abandoned like the broken boat lying on it’s shore. Perhaps the storm brought the boat to where it now rests or it was simply left behind by its owner. Either way. This painting is interesting for its simplicity.
