The Flemish painter Karel Dujardin (1622-1678) is most well-remembered for his Italian landscapes, satirical scenes and his paintings and etchings of animals. In this work, Dujardin has two donkeys standing outside a farm house as if they were having a private conference.
This etching dates back to 1652 and most of the world considers it in the public domain. However, this etching of a pair of donkeys is currently housed in the Art Museum of Estonia. They are claiming copyright of this photographic copy and residents of Estonia should use caution before using what should be a public domain image throughout the world.
